By mistake I have liquidated my list of favorite websites

which were to be found in the left column.

I wanted to delete one inactive link and deleted them all.
It may take some time to reconstitute the list ...

Een behoorlijk belachelijk decreet, een pijnlijk belachelijke strafmaat en nu een belachelijke reactie van onze politieke heren. Het is natuurlijk de schuld van de internationale Wada (wadde ?) en van de vroegere minister Bertje. En zoals gewoonlijk maakt die het nog erger door te verklaren dat zijn administratie hem moest verwittigen bij "gevoelige" gevallen en dat niet deed.

Alle Flamingen gelijk voor de wet ? Vergeet het maar !

En de strijd tegen de doping ? Is het omdat ze niet genoeg scoren met echte dopinggevallen dat ze nu de administratieve toer opgaan ? De dopingbestrijders hebben ten andere altijd een straat of twee vertraging tegenover de dopingslikkers, dopingspuiters en hun trawanten.

Een aantal artikels van nummer 506 van 21 october is gewijd aan het zoeken naar een duurzame uitweg uit de financiële en economische crisis die we slechts zullen vinden door radicaal voor nieuwe recepten te kiezen.

Er schijnt toch stilaan een gaatje in de dam van de vrije markteconomie te komen. En waarom moest het zo ver komen voor dit soort artikels kon geschreven worden ? Schrik voor de banvloek van de pausen van de financiële wereld of van het consumerisme ?

Nog maar eens Telenet

In october "kregen" wij van Telenet, de grootste weldoener in Flaanderland, onder meer het Discovery Channel cadeau. In de ogen van de bonzen van Telenet was dat dus een plaats op de analoge kabel waard.

Ik heb nog nooit zo'n bijna infantiele, militaristisch - technische macho-rotzooi bij mekaar gezien. The great outdoors ? Betcha ! Alles wordt teruggebracht tot macht en kapitaal. Perfiede propaganda voor een totaal verkeerde levensstijl. Indien ik kinderen had zouden ze deze zender nooit mogen bekijken. Die is eigenlijk nog "zieker" dan al die "music", games, sex (en drugs) zendertjes die we vroeger al ten geschenke kregen.

Over de andere cadeautjes die we terzelfdertijd met Discovery kregen zal ik verder maar zwijgen, ook over de onbestaande - of tenminste volledig onvoorbereide - zender die toch een plaats kreeg op de kabel en dan maar moest gaan improviseren ...

Exorcism

I have a lot of problems with my desktop. The main problem apparently "resides" in the interface (is that the correct term ?) between Internet Explorer and Google. More often than not Google produces an ip address and then stops - no website is forthcoming. Job apparently done.

A smart friend told me not to start in Google, but in Internet Explorer with a blank screen. That helps indeed. And that was good advice too, because before I got it, I had to restart my computer to solve the problem. I had to restart it all the time.

I have problems with Outlook Express - even the simplest appendices take minutes to send. And the general speed of my desktop has gone to hell.

Installing new software has become a real adventure, with Microsoft programmes apparently fighting other and older Microsoft programmes and updates taking forever and a day.

One of the results has been that I have kicked Microsoft Live Messenger off my machine for ever. I just used it for chatting, which is an idiotic way of communication anyway.

Planned obsolescence of a three to four year old equipment ? A totally incompetent user ? Both ?

I keep bothering a couple of friends, without whom my desktop and blogging adventure would have ended a long time ago. But recently, I have had to overdo it, calling them in all the time. I am sure they have better and more interesting things to do for themselves.

I am in dire need of a desktop exorcist.

Een jaar te laat, maar ja, beter laat dan ooit.

We zullen maar blijven hopen zeker, tegen beter weten in. Wanneer ik zie hoe normaal zeer gematigde mensen op één jaar tijd extreme standpunten gaan innemen en de politici en media napraten, dan denk ik inderdaad dat elke hoop op een redelijke en duurzame oplossing verloren is.

The more I read, the more certain I am that this country is going to implode. I see nothing but ill will on both sides of the fence. And the population "at large" , which may think otherwise, does not decide. The politicians do, or rather they do not, they let the situation rot until the country falls apart. I hope there is a hell for politicians !

Financial crisis

Two of the causes - besides the main cause, which is sheer greed :

-- widespread private and public mismanagement ;

-- financial "experts" who do not really know what they are talking about, or who have hidden agendas. Ages ago we listened to and believed in oracles, then we had priests, now we have experts. They may be the most costly of all.

Burlesque

Absurd and bizarre, and sad, very, very sad. This weekend, "our" prime minister and the political "leadership" have been negotiating the Brussels-Halle-Vilvoorde problem.

To my foreign readers : don't ask me to explain the problem to you, I don't understand it myself, but then I'm not frozen in dogmatic ill-will as are our political leaders, left and right, north, south and center.

But the negotiations have not been about a solution ! No, not for a single second. The negotiations are about how to avoid a vote in the chamber next week. That vote could provoke the fall of the government. These negotiations - which apparently failed - were about an additional delay in the decision whether to negotiate a solution to the BHV problem or not.

Have I lost you ? Good, I am utterly and totally lost myself.

I am more and more convinced that the end of Belgium is near, because of the implacable ill-will of a small revanchist minority and the utter cowardice or indifference of the large majority.

And the price we shall have to pay will be enormous !

Basic instinct

Director Paul Verhoeven of "Turks Fruit", "Soldaat van Oranje", "Robocop" and "Basic Instinct", mostly infamous flicks, wil publish a revisionist biography of Jesus in September, following more than 20 years of "research".

The libraries are already full of the fruits of this kind of "research" - I have a small collection of them in my own library. They are really fun to read, because often they are plain stupid and burning with ill-will and blind hate.
