June 13 1706

Birth in Meerbeke of Petronella Van Eesbeke, daughter of Abraham and Adriana Ingelbeens.

In 1736 she married Nicolaes Timmermans (Meerbeke 1711 - 1808) with whom she had six children at least, including my ancestor Philippus (Meerbeke 1740 - 1814). Petronella died on January 8 1772, and Nicolaes remarried in November of the same year with the some 24 years younger Maria Berlindis De Mongh (Meerbeke 1745 - 1811) with whom he had another five children at least.

Philippus thus was barely five years older than his stepmother. As stated before, Philippus was the grandfather of my great-grandfather Josephus Timmermans (Meerbeke 1858 - 1929).

Both Philippus and his son Charles (Meerbeke 1812 - 1883) married twice, and by both I descend from their second marriage.

I wrote it often enough before : a lot of work remains to be done about my father's ancestors, in Meerbeke and other locations. But the relationship between my eyes and microfilms is bad, and getting worse all the time.

One "small" detail : I was surprised not to find any children from the first marriage of Karel in Meerbeke, until recently - quite by accident - I discovered they were born in Ninove. Karel, a farmer, and his first wife were shopkeepers in Ninove : they had six children but five of them died when they were less than three years old.

April 24 1761

Maria Anna De Vleeschauwer died in Meerbeke, where she had been born on June 11 1683.

She married Joannes Timmermans (Gooik 1686 - Meerbeke 1769).

They had eight children at least - as I stated before my research in the Timmermans family is far from complete - and I descend from their son Nicolaes (Meerbeke 1711 -1808) and his first wife Petronella Van Eesbeke (Meerbeke 1706 - 1772), with whom he had six children at least.

Nicolaes not only lived a very long life : if my data are correct - and they probably are - he remarried when he was about 61 and had an additional 6 children with his second wife Berlindis Du Mongh (Meerbeke 1745 - 1814).

The further line has been described before : see the post "November 1 1808".

November 1 1808

In the almost unbelievable age of 97, Nicolaes Timmermans died in Meerbeke, where he had been born on September 27 1711. He was a son of Joannes Timmermans (Gooik 1686 - Meerbeke 1769) and Maria Anna De Vleeschauwer (Meerbeke 1683 - 1761).

Nicolaes married twice ; first in 1736 with Petronella Van Eesbeke (Meerbeke 1706 -1772), then with Maria Berlindis Du Mongh (Meerbeke 1745 - 1834).

At my last count (my research is not yet complete) he had six children with each of his wives.

Philippus Timmermans (Meerbeke 1740 - 1834) was a son of Petronella. He too married twice.

Charles Timmermans (Meerbeke 1812 -1883) was a son of his second wife Maria Anna Van den Houte who was born in Lieferinge in 1825.

Charles and Maria Anna are my great-great-grandparents.

My grandfather Pieter Jozef Timmermans (Meerbeke 1886 - 1953) was a son of their son Josephus (Meerbeke 1858 - 1929).
