Petronella (Pierijne) Pierens died in Meerbeke. She was the spouse of Henricus Evenepoel who died there in 1617 and who was bailiff in Meerbeke between 1600 and 1614.
They had eight children, six of whom were meiseniers. Their daughter Maria Evenepoel was born ca 1600 and died in Gooik in 1671. With her third husband Nicolaus Walravens (born in Pamel ca 1610 - Gooik 1666) she had six or seven children. I descend from two of them :

Catharina De Ro, born in Gooik on June 25 1636 and meisenier in 1647, died in Gooik on that date, and was buried the next day in Lieferinge.
She was almost 15 (sic) when she became the second wife of Gasparus Thienpont, born in Enghien and deceased in 1678 in Lieferinge where he had been (was) bailiff. Gasparus was lord of Edingen-Heetveld. Gaspar and Catharina had eleven children, and Catharina remarried after Gaspar's death in his castle at Heetveld (?).

April 3 1681
Zeger Van Cutsem, who had been born ca 1620 in Sint Martens Lennik died in Sint Kwintens Lennik. As I have written before, he was a relatively important guy. He married Barbara Walravens (Sint Pieters Leeuw 1623 - Sint Kwintens Lennik 1699).
They had 10 children : I descend from the seventh : Barbara, who was born in Sint Martens Lennik and married Christianus Galmaert (Gooik 1654 - 1718) in 1680.

Willem Walravens died in St Pieters Leeuw, the cradle of the - to this day - very extended family. Guillam was an important man : in 1585 he rented three farms in Brukom. He married two or three times.
-- Fact : most of the following lines consists of the offspring of famous, generally well to do, farmer ("pachter") families in Flemish Brabant (the Pajottenland).
-- Fact : I descend from Willem Walravens in a couple of ways at least.
-- Fact : some of those lines are bluried, because I possess contradictory secondary sources.

Michael Galmaert died in Gooik. He was born on August 18 1690 in Brussels or in Gooik and married Maria Theresia Walravens (Gooik 1700 - 1750).
They had nine children. Barbara Galmaert, born in Gooik in 1720, was the eldest. She married Carolus Covens who died in Pamel in 1770.

Niclaas Walravens
Een anecdote uit "Eeuwigdurende Pamelse Kalender" van Gerard Van Herreweghen (DF-Klokje 1979) :
"21 januari 1637 : jonker Jacques de Quarré verhuurt zijn Hof te Stene voor de derde maal aan Niclaes Walravens voor een termijn van negen jaar. Pachtprijs : 1200 gulden, drie stenen vlas, een vette hamel, 25 pond boter. En 100 pattacons of 200 g. als wijngeld. Adriaan Beersselmans, openbaar notaris en griffier van Pamel, maakte het contract op. Niclaes Walravens is hier gestorven. Meer dan 300 jaar heeft zijn grafsteen op het kerkhof gelegen. Nu staat hij te Ledeberg tegen de kerkmuur."
En elders - in "Met naam en toenaam" door Gerard Van Herreweghen, DF-Klokje 1983 :
"Een aloude grafsteen die op het kerkhof lag en voor een dertigtal jaren naar Ledeberg werd gevoerd en tegen de kerkgevel aangemetseld, herinnert aan deze twee oudstgekende voorouders, pachters van het grootste Pamelse hof tegen de Nattemeers. Hun namen zijn er nog op te lezen."

In 1534, she married Jan Pipenpoy, lord of Bossuyt and alderman of Lennik, who died in 1553. The lived in hof Ten Berg in Ste Gertrudis Pede and are buried in the church of St Martens Lennik, in front of the altar of St Anthony. They had 13 children.
Their son Jan Pipenpoy married Elisabeth Goossens and died in 1615 in St Martens Lennik. Like his father he was lord of Bossuyt and alderman of Lennik (in 1598 and 1601), and lived in hof Ten Berg. They are buried in the same church. They had six or seven children.
Jan and Elisabeth had a daughter Maria Pipenpoy, who married Joannes Van Cutsem. Joannes was born ca 1580. They lived in hof te Opcureghem and Joannes was alderman of Anderlecht in 1625. In 1634 they are mentioned as farmers (pachters) of hof te Budingen in Halle. In his later years Joannes was also reported as alderman of Lennik.

I now think that Joannes Jacobus Walravens, who married Maria Thienpont, and Anna Walravens, who married Egidius Huylenbroeck, were not brother and sister but aunt and nephew. In this hypothesis, Anna was a daughter of Nicolaes and Maria ; Joannes Jacobus was a son of their son Nicolaes who married Magdalena De Ro.
More about this later ; I have some new clues. But if there is any help out there, I'd be grateful.

Magdalena De Ro lived in Gooik and died there on that date. She married Nicolaes Walravens, meisenier (Meerbeke 1638 - shot or murdered in the castle of Neigem in 1692). He was a son of Nicolaes Walravens and Maria Evenepoel mentioned in the previous post. See also : September 18 1671".

Nicolaes Walravens was born around 1570 and died in Pamel on November 11 1642. He was an important farmer of Hof ter Stene. His tombstone survived the centuries but was moved from the old graveyard of Pamel to the chapel at Ledeberg, where it was placed against the outer wall.

On that day, Barbara Walravens died in Sint Kwintens Lennik. She had been born on September 5 1623 in Sint Pieters Leeuw, the cradle of the Walravens family. Barbara married Zeger Van Cutsem, born in Sint Martens Lennik ca 1620, who died in Sint Kwintens Lennik in 1681. They were relatively important farmers and Zeger has been an alderman. According to one source (to be verified) he also was lord of Bossuyt through his descendance of the Pipenpoy family. In any case, they both came from a line of important farmers ("pachters"). They had 10 children.

-- Joannes Jacobus Walravens (° Gooik 1667) most probably was a son of their son Nicolaus Walravens (Meerbeke 1638 - Neigem 1692) who married Magdalena De Ro (+ Gooik 1693).
At least one source states that Joannes Jacobus was a son of Nicolaus Walravens and Maria Evenepoel themselves but, given the date of his birth, that is highly improbable. The fact that father and son both were named Nicolaus helps to understand the confusion, but further digging is required to clear up this problem (*).
Joannes Jacobus had a daughter Maria Theresia (Gooik 1700 - 1750), who became a meisenier in 1715. She married Michael Galmaert (Brussels 1690 - Gooik 1786). Their daughter Barbara Galmaert had twelve children of which Maria Josina Covens (Pamel 1759 - 1827) was the youngest. Her daughter Maria Elisabeth Van Lierde (Pamel 1790 - 1838) was the mother of Joannes De Vidts (Pamel 1811 - 1881).

-- Joannes Jacobus Walravens (° Gooik 1667) most probably was a son of their son Nicolaus Walravens (Meerbeke 1638 - Neigem 1692) who married Magdalena De Ro (+ Gooik 1693).
At least one source states that Joannes Jacobus was a son of Nicolaus Walravens and Maria Evenepoel themselves but, given the date of his birth, that is highly improbable. The fact that father and son both were named Nicolaus helps to understand the confusion, but further digging is required to clear up this problem (*).
Joannes Jacobus had a daughter Maria Theresia (Gooik 1700 - 1750), who became a meisenier in 1715. She married Michael Galmaert (Brussels 1690 - Gooik 1786). Their daughter Barbara Galmaert had twelve children of which Maria Josina Covens (Pamel 1759 - 1827) was the youngest. Her daughter Maria Elisabeth Van Lierde (Pamel 1790 - 1838) was the mother of Joannes De Vidts (Pamel 1811 - 1881).
I descend from his son Felix through my mother and from his daughter Antonia through my father (see "Een oude foto en een mysterie opgelost " - by the way I haven't located the photo yet. I know I have it, but that's all ...).
-- Anna Walravens was born in Meerbeke in 1636. Her son Adrianus Huylenbroeck was born in St-Kwintens-Lennik and died in Pamel in 1699. His daughter Catharina lived in Pamel from around 1685 to 1751 and was the mother of Ferdinandus Van der Sleyen (Pamel 1724 - 1810).
Ferdinand's son Michael (Pamel 1758 -1827) was the father of Maria Elisabeth Van der Sleyen (Pamel 1811 - 1860), the spouse of Joannes De Vidts. I descend from her son Felix through my mother and through her daughter Antonia through my father.
(*) In the sixteenth to eighteenth century, in Gooik and surrounding villages, intermarriages between the "pachter" families Evenepoel, Walravens, De Ro, Thienpont ... create a real warren of relations, which is not always easy to disentangle.

Barbara Walravens was born on that day in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, the cradle of that family. She died in Sint-Kwintens-Lennik on November 5 1699. In 1644 she married Zeger Van Cutsem (Sint-Martens-Lennik ca 1620 - Sint Kwintens Lennik 1681) in Sint-Kwintens-Lennik. Zeger's mother was Maria Pipenpoy - through her I trace back some f the oldest links in my genealogy.
Their daughter Barbara Van Cutsem was born in Sint-Martens-Lennik and Barbara's son Michael Galmaert lived in Gooik from 1690 to 1786 - an almost unbelievable age for that era.
Michael's daughter Barbara Galmaert was born in Gooik in 1720 and died in Aalst (see also "August 15 1678"). Her daughter Maria Josina Covens lived in Pamel from 1759 to 1827. She was the mother of Maria Elisabeth Van Lierde (Pamel 1790 - 1838).
Maria Elisabeth was the mother of my great-great-grandfather Joannes De Vidts (Pamel 1811 - 1881).
This is one of the lines in which a significant number of famous and relatively well known farming "dynasties" in Western Brabant link up into my ancestorship.

On that date, Gaspar Thienpont, who had been born in Enghien, passed away in Lieferinge. He was lord (heer, seigneur) of Enghien-Heetveld and bailiff (baljuw) of Lieferinge in 1671 and probably up to his death.
He married Catharina De Ro (Gooik 1636 - 1693 she died in Gooik but was buried in Lieferinge).
Gaspar and Catherina probably were the parents of the Maria Thienpont (Gooik 1661 - 1709) who married Joannes Jacobus Walravens who died in Gooik in 1667 (I have contradictory secondary sources which I haven't checked yet).
