Ancestor chart

On January 15 1843, Maria Anna Geeroms, a great-grandmother of my great-grandfather Hermilianus Neukermans, died in Impegem and was buried in Okegem. She had been born in Impegem on November 8 1768.

I know nothing about her ascendance beyond the names of her father and mother. But there is a significant chance that her father Andreas was born in Gooik. In Gooik, at that time, two Andreas Geeroms should be considered. The first one was born in 1738, the other one in 1765, but both had the same paternal grandparents.

If I were able to prove that link to Gooik, I would be able to document two additional generations at least.

And there are lots of other lines in my ancestor chart which could be developed much further.

For those of you who thought that the virus had died away : no, not at all ! It keeps working me almost incessantly, but my eyesight is not getting any better ...

I cannot possibly focus on bad microfilms for hours on end or, for that matter, work with a computer screen for hours on end, and I avoid driving as much as possible ; driving to Beveren or to Leuven for a couple of hours of research is not really a good use of time and resources.

So nothing much is happening, but hopefully that might change in the not too distant future : the jury is still out on that one.

April 30 1865

Franciscus Asselman died in Okegem, where he had been born on September 24 1769. In 1794 he married Maria Anna Geeroms (Impegem 1768 - Okegem 1843) with whom he had seven children.

Andreas Asselman (Okegem 1795 - 1875) was the oldest. He had five children with his first wife Van der Speeten Alexandrina (Okegem 1795 - 1831) and, to the best of my knowledge, none with the second. The third was Catharina Asselman (Okegem 1823 - 1892), the grandmother of my maternal grandfather Joannes Franciscus Neukermans (Okegem 1886 - 1961).

Andreas Asselman was born in Okegem, the eldest of seven children of Franciscus Asselman (Okegem 1769 - 1865) and Maria Anna Geeroms (Impegem 1768 - Okegem 1843).

He married twice and had five children with his first wife, Alexandrina Van der Speeten ( Okegem 1795 - 1831) and none with the second wife Elisabeth Van der Kelen (Pamel 1796 - Okegem 1864).

Catharina (Okegem 1823 - 1892) was the third child of Andreas and Alexandrina. She was the mother of my great-grandfather Hermilianus Neukermans.

On January 15 1843 Maria Anna Geeroms died in Okegem. She had been born in Impegem on November 8 1768. She was a daughter of Andreas Asselman and Joanna Maria Van den Hauwe. She married Franciscus Asselman (Okegem 1769 - 1865).

Their son Andreas Asselman (Okegem 1795 - 1875) married twice. He had no children with his second wife.

Catharina Asselman, his third child, (Okegem 1823 - 1829) was the mother of my great-grandfather Hermilianus Neukermans (Okegem 1855 - 1932).
