Catharina Asselman was born in Okegem, the third of five children of Andreas Asselman (Okegem 1795 - 1875) and of Alexandrina Van der Speeten (Okegem 1795 - 1831).

In 1849 Catharina married Amandus Neukermans (Okegem 1824 - 1857). They had five children : their third child and first son was my great-grandfather Hermilianus Neukermans (Okegem 1855 - 1932).
