Banks, papers and statistics

A typical exemple of how not to use or present statistics, found on the front page of one of our "quality" papers.
.
If the paper had wanted to provoke a run on the bank, it could not have chosen a better scale to present the evolution of the share price of Fortis, which is bad enough as it is.
.
The presentation and the title combined are probably a journalistic hit but show no feeling at all for the impact of the message.
.
Responsible behaviour is an art form which is disappearing very fast.
