Gerardus Martinus Van Lierde, the second husband of Maria Mattens, thus was a witness to the death of three out of four of his wife's children and then lost Maria and his own daughter in a couple of days (see the previous post).
But things could go fast in those times. Maria died on May 9 1743 and on September 3 1743 Gerardus Martinus married Elisabeth Baveghems "rentenierster" (a woman of independent means, whatever that meant at that time) who was born in Pamel on September 7 1723, a daughter to Joannes (1681 - 1737) and Joanna Maria De Vidts (1683 - 1726).
Elisabeth gave birth to seven children : we know for a fact that three of them died in young age too.
Gerardus Martinus himself died in Pamel on April 6 1754. His youngest daughter Catharina Theresia was born almost two months later on May 25 1754, but she was one of the three who didn't make it : she died, less than a year old, on March 29 1755.
On January 11 1755, months after the death of Gerardus Martinus, Elisabeth married Petrus De Kerpel (ca 1727 - 1792) but, to the best of our knowledge, they had no offspring. Elisabeth died in Pamel on June 29 1807.
As stated a number of times before, I descend from Joannes Josephus Van Lierde (Pamel June 19 1746 - April 1 1811), the second child and second son of Elisabeth and Gerardus Martinus and a miller like his father. On January 26 1782 he married Maria Josina Covens (Pamel October 8 1759 - April 12 1827).

Henricus Covens was born in Malderen, a son to Henricus (born ca 1617) and Catharina Verheyen. The father was farmer (pachter) of the Groenhof in Malderen.

Anna Van den Heuvel, first spouse of Henricus Covens, died in Pamel.
She married Henricus Covens, born in Malderen in 1660 and farmer of the Groenhof in Malderen, in Grimbergen in 1687. They lived in Grimbergen for some time, and then moved to Hof te Berchem in Pamel, where Henricus became an alderman.
They had four children, and Henricus had another seven children with his second spouse. He died in Pamel in 1739.
Carolus Covens (born before 1699 in Malderen or Grimbergen) died in Pamel in Hof te Berchem in 1770. He married Barbara Galmaert (born in Gooik in 1720), in Gooik in 1739. As we have stated before they had 12 children - see also the posts "February 1 1739", "November 25 1770" ...

Maria Josina was the youngest of twelve and had eleven children herself. Number five was Maria Elisabeth Van Lierde (Pamel 1790 - 1838) who married Joannes Franciscus De Vidts (Pamel 1784 - 1839).

Miller Joannes Josephus Van Lierde died in Pamel , where he had been born on June 19 1746. The Van Lierde family had a lot of millers in its ranks and had spread over a good part of the Pajottenland. He became a meisenier in 1784, a short time before the French revolution and the end of the Ancien Régime, which also meant the end of the meiseniers' title. He married twice : in 1687, he married Anna Van den Heuvel, who passed away in 1698. Then he married Catharina Thienpont, born in Herfelingen, who died in 1729.
He was born in or near Malderen on June 7 1660. He was a meisenier and a man of some importance. He had four children with Anna and seven with Catharina.

In 1534, she married Jan Pipenpoy, lord of Bossuyt and alderman of Lennik, who died in 1553. The lived in hof Ten Berg in Ste Gertrudis Pede and are buried in the church of St Martens Lennik, in front of the altar of St Anthony. They had 13 children.
Their son Jan Pipenpoy married Elisabeth Goossens and died in 1615 in St Martens Lennik. Like his father he was lord of Bossuyt and alderman of Lennik (in 1598 and 1601), and lived in hof Ten Berg. They are buried in the same church. They had six or seven children.
Jan and Elisabeth had a daughter Maria Pipenpoy, who married Joannes Van Cutsem. Joannes was born ca 1580. They lived in hof te Opcureghem and Joannes was alderman of Anderlecht in 1625. In 1634 they are mentioned as farmers (pachters) of hof te Budingen in Halle. In his later years Joannes was also reported as alderman of Lennik.
Their son Zeger Van Cutsem, (heer van Bossuyt ??) was born in St Martens Lennik ca 1620 and died in St Kwintens Lennik in 1681. He married Barbara Walravens (St Pieters Leeuw 1623 - St Kwintens Lennik 1699).
They had a daughter Barbara Van Cutsem, who was born in St Martens Lennik and married Christianus Galmaert (Gooik 1654 - 1718) in 1680.

On that day, Jan Covens died at Lippelo. He married Heglwize Van Neyen.
His son Henricus, born ca 1617 became tenant ("pachter") of the Groenhof in Malderen.
His son Henricus, born ca 1617 became tenant ("pachter") of the Groenhof in Malderen.
Henricus' son was another Henricus. He was born in Malderen in 1660 and died in Pamel in 1739 where he was the farmer ("pachter") of hof te Berchem. He became a meisenier in 1695.
His son Carolus was born in Malderen before 1699 and died in Pamel in 1770. He became a meisenier in 1712 and married Barbara Galmaert (born in Gooik 1720, died in Aalst) whom we met before - see "September 18 1671", "September 5 1623" and "August 15 1698".
I nevertheless shall repeat the rest of the line : the daughter of Carolus and Barbara, Maria Josina Covens (Pamel 1759 - 1827) married a miller, Joannes Josephus Van Lierde (Pamel 1746 - 1811).
Her daughter Maria Elisabeth Van Lierde (Pamel 1790 - 1838) was the mother of Joannes De Vidts (Pamel 1811 - 1881), my great-great- grandfather on my mothers side and my great-great-great- grandfather on my fathers side.
September 18 1671
Maria Evenepoel, born around 1600, died in Gooik. She was a "meisenier". Her first husband was mayor of Meerbeke. In 1636 she married her third husband Nicolaus Walravens (Pamel ca 1610 - Gooik 1666). They first were farmers ("pachters") of Hof te Kranenbroek in Poelk.
(I may have stated this before, but the term "pachter" was reserved for the more important exploitations - smaller tenants were called "cossaart").
Later - in 1642 - Nicolaus probably built the farm and boarding house ("afspanning") "Drie Egypten" in Gooik. This is now the oldest standing house in the village. Nicolaus was "drossaard" - to be compared to a bayliff - of Gooik.
I descend from two of their children, each time through my father and through my mother, but some of the early links still need checking.
-- Joannes Jacobus Walravens (° Gooik 1667) most probably was a son of their son Nicolaus Walravens (Meerbeke 1638 - Neigem 1692) who married Magdalena De Ro (+ Gooik 1693).
At least one source states that Joannes Jacobus was a son of Nicolaus Walravens and Maria Evenepoel themselves but, given the date of his birth, that is highly improbable. The fact that father and son both were named Nicolaus helps to understand the confusion, but further digging is required to clear up this problem (*).
Joannes Jacobus had a daughter Maria Theresia (Gooik 1700 - 1750), who became a meisenier in 1715. She married Michael Galmaert (Brussels 1690 - Gooik 1786). Their daughter Barbara Galmaert had twelve children of which Maria Josina Covens (Pamel 1759 - 1827) was the youngest. Her daughter Maria Elisabeth Van Lierde (Pamel 1790 - 1838) was the mother of Joannes De Vidts (Pamel 1811 - 1881).

Ferdinand's son Michael (Pamel 1758 -1827) was the father of Maria Elisabeth Van der Sleyen (Pamel 1811 - 1860), the spouse of Joannes De Vidts. I descend from her son Felix through my mother and through her daughter Antonia through my father.

In 1644 she married Zeger Van Cutsem (Sint-Martens-Lennik ca 1620 - Sint Kwintens Lennik 1681) in Sint-Kwintens-Lennik. Zeger's mother was Maria Pipenpoy - through her I trace back some f the oldest links in my genealogy.

On that date, Gaspar Thienpont, who had been born in Enghien, passed away in Lieferinge. He was lord (heer, seigneur) of Enghien-Heetveld and bailiff (baljuw) of Lieferinge in 1671 and probably up to his death.
He married Catharina De Ro (Gooik 1636 - 1693 she died in Gooik but was buried in Lieferinge).
Gaspar and Catherina probably were the parents of the Maria Thienpont (Gooik 1661 - 1709) who married Joannes Jacobus Walravens who died in Gooik in 1667 (I have contradictory secondary sources which I haven't checked yet).
But that Maria Thienpont was the mother of Maria Theresia Walravens (Gooik 1700 -1750) who in her turn was the mother of Barbara Galmaert (born in Gooik in 1720 and passed away in Aalst).
