I wrote before that I descend from Joannes Timmermans (Gooik 1686 - Meerbeke 1769) and his wife Maria Anna De Vleeschauwer (Meerbeke 1683 - 1761) through their son Nicolaas (Meerbeke 1711 - 1808) and his first wife Petronella Van Eesbeeck (Eesbeke) who was born in Meerbeke in 1706 and died there in 1772.
Nicolaas had approximately 12 children with his two wifes - I haven't finalised my count yet because my research remains incomplete ; Philippus was born in Meerbeke in 1740.
I also descend from a Barbara Timmermans, spouse of Christianus Vanden Berghe. I was not sure where to link that Barbara, if at all. It now appears more than likely that this Barbara was the younger daughter of Joannes because according to the Status Animarum they lived under the same roof. That daughter was born in 1726.
Barbara's daughter Petronella Vanden Berghe (Meerbeke 1766 - 1824) became the second wife of Philippus Timmermans - they were cousins ("cousings germains"). If this probable hypothesis is correct I descend twice from Joannes and Maria Anna, and one more open link in my ancestry will be closed.

Meerbeke 1757 : Timmermans
The publication of the Status Animarum gives us the opportunity to list all the Timmermans who were living in Meerbeke in 1757.
Plaets : Philippus Timmermans x Petronilla Jans and children : Petrus 8 years ; Joannes 7 years ; Catharina 4 years ; Maria Anna 2 years ; Joanna 6 months. This Philippus may have been a son of Joannes, mentioned under Poelck.
De Godtshuysen : Maria Hetvelt vidua N. Stevens (m.i. Francis) and het daughter Isabella. Judocus Timmermans lives in the same house.
Valleystraete : Petrus De Schepper x Petronella Timmermans and his sister Anna De Schepper. Children : Adrianus ; Joanna 13 years ; Adriana 10 years ; Maria Anna 7 years ; Cornelius 2 years.
Joannes Timmermans x Petronilla Schandevel and children : Sebastianus 12 years ; Judocus 10 years ; Judoca 9 years ; Petronilla 8 years ; Anna Maria 5 years ; Maria Joanna 2 years. This Joannes may have been a son of Joannes mentioned under Poelck.
Adrianus Timmermans x Petronilla Crins and children : Judocus 11 years ; Catharina 10 years ; Sebastianus 6 years ; Joannes 5 years ; Francis 2 years.
Ten Berghe : my direct ancestors Nicolaas Timmermans x Petronella Van Eesbeeck (his first wife) and their children : Jan Baptiste, Philippus, Jacobus and Joannes Josephus. I descend from their son Philippus.
Ternath (op het plateau) : Christianus Van Eesbeeck x Barbara De Muylder and children Guilielmus 5 years and Clara Anna 16 months. Maid : Joanna Timmermans 13 years (it was no exception at all to be a maid at that young age).
Hoesbeeck : Joannes Vanden Berghe x Maria Anna Timmermans and son Philippus 1 year.
Poulck : Albertus Timmermans x Catharina Uijtenhove and children Joannes, Catharina, Maria Anna, Barbara 9 years ; Joanna 6 years. Albertus may have been a son of Joannes, who follows.
Joannes Timmermans x Maria Anna De Vleeschauwer, item Christianus Vanden Berghe x Barbara Timmermans and son Joannes (Vanden Berghe) 3 years old. Joannes was the father of the forementioned Nicolaas. He came from Gooik and was the first of our "tribe" to settle in Meerbeke. In 1757 he was over 70 years old. Barbara was his daughter.
Petrus De Beys x Catharina Timmermans and children Judocus 12 years ; Joannes 5 years ; Maria Anna 3 years ; Petronella 1 year. Catharina may have been a daughter of Joannes, mentioned under Poelck.
Denderstraete : Joannes Timmermans x Maria Barbara Jouré and children. This Joannes might have been the son of Joannes (Poelck) instead of the Joannes in the Valleistraat.
Guilielmus Stevens x Petronella Timmermans and childen Elisabeth ; Nicolaas ; Anna Catharina 12 years ; Jan Baptiste 8 years ; Petronilla 4 years ; Petrus Joannes 1 year.
I now have the very agreeable job to puzzle out the relationships between these various families. As I wrote before, my own research on Meerbeke is very incomplete for the 19th and most certainly for the 18th centuries. I haven't yet reconstructed the whole families (parents + all children) of my direct ancestors.

Judocus Timmermans
Judocus died in Gooik op July 25 1694. He had been born in Gooik on September 21 1649 and was the first husband of Catharina (Maria) Appelmans (Gooik 1656 - 1733), with whom he had two children :
-- Cornelius Timmermans lived for a couple of weeks in Gooik in November 1679 ;
-- Joannes Timmermans was born in Gooik in 1686 and died in Meerbeke in 1769. In 1708 he married Maria Anna De Vleeschauwer (Meerbeke 1683 - 1761). They are among my ancestors.
Barely five months after the death of Judocus, Catharina (Maria) Appelmans married Adrianus Bellemans (Gooik 1670 - 1752), with whom she had two children also :
-- Maria Bellemans (Gooik 1696 - 1784) married Nicolaus Van Eeckhoudt (Gooik ca 1686 - 1770). They are among my ancestors too ;
-- Claudius Bellemans (Gooik 1700 - 1785).
So I descend from Catharina (Maria) Appelmans and from each of her two husbands.

June 11 1683
Maria Anna De Vleeschauwer was born in Meerbeke, a daughter to Nicolaes and to Martina Van der Poorten. That is all I know for the moment. Further research is needed.
Maria Anna married Joannes Timmermans (Gooik 1686 - Meerbeke 1769) and they had eight kids at least. Maria Anna died in Meerbeke on April 24 1761. See the post for that date.

April 24 1761
Maria Anna De Vleeschauwer died in Meerbeke, where she had been born on June 11 1683.
She married Joannes Timmermans (Gooik 1686 - Meerbeke 1769).
They had eight children at least - as I stated before my research in the Timmermans family is far from complete - and I descend from their son Nicolaes (Meerbeke 1711 -1808) and his first wife Petronella Van Eesbeke (Meerbeke 1706 - 1772), with whom he had six children at least.
Nicolaes not only lived a very long life : if my data are correct - and they probably are - he remarried when he was about 61 and had an additional 6 children with his second wife Berlindis Du Mongh (Meerbeke 1745 - 1814).
The further line has been described before : see the post "November 1 1808".

December 30 1769
Joannes Timmermans died in Meerbeke. He was born in Gooik on June 23 1686, but married Maria Anna De Vleeschauwer (Meerbeke 1683 - 1761) in Meerbeke in 1708.
Up to now I found eight children. I descend from their third child, Nicolaes Timmermans, who lived for almost 100 years (Meerbeke 1711 - 1808).
The line has been described in "November 1 1808 ".

November 1 1808
In the almost unbelievable age of 97, Nicolaes Timmermans died in Meerbeke, where he had been born on September 27 1711. He was a son of Joannes Timmermans (Gooik 1686 - Meerbeke 1769) and Maria Anna De Vleeschauwer (Meerbeke 1683 - 1761).
Nicolaes married twice ; first in 1736 with Petronella Van Eesbeke (Meerbeke 1706 -1772), then with Maria Berlindis Du Mongh (Meerbeke 1745 - 1834).
At my last count (my research is not yet complete) he had six children with each of his wives.
Philippus Timmermans (Meerbeke 1740 - 1834) was a son of Petronella. He too married twice.
Charles Timmermans (Meerbeke 1812 -1883) was a son of his second wife Maria Anna Van den Houte who was born in Lieferinge in 1825.
Charles and Maria Anna are my great-great-grandparents.
My grandfather Pieter Jozef Timmermans (Meerbeke 1886 - 1953) was a son of their son Josephus (Meerbeke 1858 - 1929).

July 25 1694
On July 25 1694 Judocus Timmermans passed away at Gooik. He had been baptized at Gooik on September 21 1649 and married Catharina (Maria) Appelmans (Gooik 1656 - 1733), who remarried after his death.
They had two children : Cornelius lived for less than a month in november 1679 and Joannes who was born at Gooik in 1686 died at Meerbeke in 1769. He married Maria Anna De Vleeschauwer (Meerbeke 1683 - 1761).
Their son Nicolaes Timmermans - who married twice - lived for almost one hundred years in Meerbeke - from 1711 to 1808. Both father and son had a lot of children. One of them was Philippus (Meerbeke 1740 - 1814). He was a son of Nicolaes and of his first wife Petronella Van Eesbeke (Meerbeke 1706 - 1772). Philippus also married twice and his second wife was Petronella Van den Berghe (Meerbeke 1766 - 1824).
According to my research, this Philippus was the father of Charles Timmermans, who was born at Meerbeke in 1812, when his father was 71 and his mother 46. That is the reason why, a couple of almost ironclad checks notwithstanding, I still hesitate to claim for certain that this Philippus is the real father of Charles.
There are three possibilities : either the data are correct and Philippus is the real father ; or the data are correct and Philippus is the legal, but not the real father ; or an - improbable - mistake slipped in my research and the father of Charles is another Philippus Timmermans altogether.
In genealogy nothing ever is absolutely certain, but to be "as certain" as possible, I will have to reconstitute all the Timmermans families in Meerbeke in the 18th en 19th century - and there are lots of them. This will require very significant additional research but will pay off eventually as I will get a reliable overview of the exact relationships (or lack of it) between all the people bearing the same family name.
Charles who died at Meerbeke in 1883 was married twice too. He and his second wife Maria Anna Van den Houte (who was born in Lieferinge in 1825) were the parents of my great-grandfather Jozef Timmermans (Meerbeke 1858 - 1929).
