In hof te Berchem Henricus Covens, farmer (pachter) and alderman of Pamel, 78 years old, passed away. He was the forefather of all the Covens in the wider region. He married twice : in 1687, he married Anna Van den Heuvel, who passed away in 1698. Then he married Catharina Thienpont, born in Herfelingen, who died in 1729.

He was born in or near Malderen on June 7 1660. He was a meisenier and a man of some importance. He had four children with Anna and seven with Catharina.

Carolus (Pamel before 1698 - 1770), a meisenier like his father, was a son from Hendrik's first marriage. He took over the exploitation of hof te Berchem. In 1739, Carolus married Barbara Galmaert, born in Gooik in 1720.
