September 6 1944

Exactly three months after the landings in Normandy, British troops liberated the city of Ghent after more than four years of brutal and murderous occupation by the German hordes.

Today we celebrate the 65th anniversary of that joyous event. We thankfully commemorate all those who died, lost their health or were crippled for life for the liberation of our city.
