The birthday of my maternal grandfather Joannes Franciscus (Cis) Neukermans, the third of the ten children of Hermilianus Neukermans (Okegem 1855 - 1932) and of Clementina (Manse) Broeckaert (Okegem 1858 - 1939).
He was born in Okegem and died in Aalst on July 1 1961. I have written about him in many previous posts, and most certainly will do so in the future. I have so many memories of him.

His wife Maria Antonia De Vidts (Pamel 1885 - Okegem 1949) passed away much too soon. I was their eldest grandchild and spent most of my holidays in their home on the Rattenberg. It was my home away from home.

He was a shining exemple to me, and one of my very best friends ever. He has been gone now for 46 years and I still remember him almost daily.
