On that day, Joannes Franciscus De Vidts, inn keeper in the Brusselstraat, passed away. He built one of the first houses of what, some 70 years after his death, became the new center of Pamel.

He had been born op June 21 1784 and married Maria Elisabeth Van Lierde, a miller's daughter, in 1809.

They had eight children, of which my ancestor Joannes De Vidts (Pamel 1811 - 1881) was the second. Joannes married Maria Elisabeth Van der Sleyen (Pamel 1811 - 1860) in 1834.

They had eight children too. Once more (I have written it often enough before) : my father descends from their daughter Antonia on his mother's side ; my mother descends from their son Felix on her mother's side.
