A small cross on president Poutin's breast. Am I the only one to think that is remarkable ?
The president may wear it as a sign of his faith ; it can be a meaningless ornament ; or it can be a smart political and popular move. Whatever his reasons, and they are none of my business, it is remarkable.
How the world changes ... it was weird to hear Gorbachev speak openly about God and faith, it is weird to see the present president of Russia wear a cross in public.
He will not be a better or a worse man for it, but remember the USSR ? That was not so long ago ! Can you imagine the pope wearing the hammer and sickle around his neck ?
In French they say : "Chassez le naturel, il revient au galop." I think the same may be true about the Big Boss.
