Maria Baetens

Maria Baetens died in Okegem on July 30 1690. She had been born in Denderhoutem on July 6 1625 and married Reinier De Winne (born ca 1634 who died in Okegem in 1701) in Okegem in 1659.

Reinier was an alderman of Okegem in 1684 - 1700, but he was broke when he died. The poor's table could not collect the rent in 1702.

Reinier and Maria had two children :

-- Cornelia was born in Okegem in 1659, a couple of months before Maria and Reinier married. Cornelia was baptised as Cornelia Baetens. During labor the mother stated that Reinier was the father, and Cornelia was legalised by the marriage. Cornelia married twice ;

-- Catharina was born in Okegem in 1161. She married Niclaas Straetman, who died in Okegem in 1719. Niclaas was a son of Adrianus and Margareta Van der Kelen whom I have just named in a recent post. Catharina became a buitenpoorter of Geraardsbergen in 1719 and died in Okegem in 1730 at over 70 years of age (??).
