Cornelia Booms

Cornelia Booms died in Okegem on July 30 1621, and was buried in the church the next day. In 1598 she married Petrus Straetman in Denderhoutem. It appears probable that she was born (or living) in Denderhoutem at the time of her marriage.

Petrus was reported as a "buitenpoorter" of Aalst in 1596 and 1602. In 1598-1601 he was in trouble for having wounded Hans De Broedere with a stone, but the bailiff of Aalst accepted a settlement (minnelijke schikking). Petrus died in Okegem in 1628.

Petrus and Cornelia had six children :

-- Barbara, who died in 1668 (at that time she was reported erroneously as being named Maria). She married twice ;
-- Petrus, born in Okegem in 1602 ;

-- Adrianus, born in Okegem in 1604. In 1636 he married Margareta Van der Kelen (born in Pamel. She died in Okegem in 1670). In 1656 they became "buitenpoorters" of Aalst. In 1657 Adrianus was an administrator of the church fabric (kerkfabriek), but he could not pay his rent to the poor's table (armentafel) in 1647-1648, in 1672 and in 1675, troubled times indeed. Adrianus and Margareta are among my ancestors ;

-- Judoca, born in Okegem in 1607 ;
-- Judocus, born in Okegem in 1609 ;
-- Cornelius, born in Okegem in 1612 ; he married in Okegem ;

The line from Adrianus and Margareta to myself has been (partially) described in various posts, including "February 7 1628", "October 24 1670" and "July 30 1621".
