Luitenant general Paul (Jean Baptiste Charles) Timmermans, born in Ghent on November 27 1842, deceased on October 12 1925.

I'm quite certain this upright guy was no relation of mine. My branch came to Ghent in 1945 - 1946 after my regretted father joined the gendarmerie.

By the way I just discovered that Timmermans is one of the oldest Flemish family names ever recorded. Mr Bernard Roobaert found the name Walterus Temberman in 1181 and Boidin Temberman in 1182. Mr Roobaert has analysed an unpublished source from the archives of Ninove Abbey.
