Elisabeth Sterckx was born in Pamel. She was the first of five children of Nicolaus (Pamel 1714 - 1803) and of Catharina Suzanna Van Tricht (Pamel 1725 - 1799).

In 1778 she married Josephus, named Judocus Neukermans (Okegem 1736 - 1814) with whom she had seven children, of which Adrianus (Okegem 1788 - 1860) was the fifth.

After Elisabeth's death, Judocus remarried and had another three children with his second spouse.
