Caravaggio

During my recent trip to Rome I was captivated by the light in the paintings of Caravaggio, a name I had long forgotten.

The light in his work is dramatically sublime ... I looked on the net for a reproduction of the conversion of Saul on the road to Damascus, which hangs in Santa Maria del Populo in Rome. I didn't find a single decent one. The one I selected is the best, but it still stinks. The books I bought didn't have it right either.
.
There are other fantastic Caravaggio's in the nearby Galleria Borghese, a really exceptional museum on a human scale. Do not miss them when in Rome !
.
Caravaggio was a contemporary of our bombastic Rubens, but I prefer Caravaggio every single day.
.
Dear reader, if you find a better reproduction, please let me know.
