Basic instinct

Director Paul Verhoeven of "Turks Fruit", "Soldaat van Oranje", "Robocop" and "Basic Instinct", mostly infamous flicks, wil publish a revisionist biography of Jesus in September, following more than 20 years of "research".

The libraries are already full of the fruits of this kind of "research" - I have a small collection of them in my own library. They are really fun to read, because often they are plain stupid and burning with ill-will and blind hate.

"Christians only have themselves to blame for the fact that rubbish like this book will be taken seriously by millions of people and that the author will make millions of pounds out of it.

For the whole history of our faith we have insisted that what we believe is a proven truth whilst the truth is, it isn't. (If it were proven truth we would no longer need to believe it).

Therefore, we can hardly complain when some chancer or other lunatic brings forth a completely unsubstantiated claim such as Mary being raped by a soldier (a boringly old heresy) is the truth, or even a probable truth. I really cannot understand why non-believers want to waste their time inventing new fictions for something they believe to be a fiction."
