World day

The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is celebrated every year on October 17 throughout the world. It was officially recognised by the United Nations in 1992, but the first commemoration of the event took place in Paris, France in 1987 (from Wikipedia).

Almost every day is a "World day" nowadays. This should be one of the most important. But what happens ? Talk, talk, talk .... another exemple of political correctness.

When I studied economics in the early sixties, most enlightened minds stated that 0.7 % of GDP should be spent on development aid. More than fourty years later, we still haven't attained that goal. Shame on all of us !!!

The World Day for the Eradication of Poverty is almost as relevant and useful as World Wear Old Socks Day on March 27.
.
I found it after I had written my text. The meeting of great minds, what ? Ahum.

Isn't it ironic that the day before was world food day?
