Similar exercises can be made for princess Mathilde and for her husband. Just to show that (almost) everyone has - sometimes - close or - mostly - distant relationships to so called "famous" people.

Once more, these data come from Linda's genealogy on Geneanet : http://gw.geneanet.org/index.php3?b=lindav&lang=nl .
Thus, if I go back twelve generations to Jan Pipenpoy (+ 1615) I have in him a common ancestor with queen Paola. That is not as uncommon as it looks, but some people base their whole research on this kind of links. An extreme exemple is http://worldroots.com/brigitte/ngroups.htm.
Many people who start on their genealogy do so in the secret hope of finding lots of "nobility" amongst their ancestors, as if those were special or better persons. Many do find them, many others don't, not because the link has not existed, but because the documentation is not there any more. Personally, I don't care for or about historical nobility, as I don't care for or about our present ruling classes. I do not see what made or makes them so special. They are not of a special type or race : I have never seen their blood run blue ... Maar ieder zijn zin !!
