October 26 1691 (2)

On that day, Niclaas De Mol died in Okegem. His grandfather was sexton in Outer.
In 1666 Niclaas married Livina Vernaillen, a daughter of the sexton of Okegem. Like the Van der Sleyen's mentioned in the previous blog, they were poor and had to be assisted by the parish.

Their son Judocus (Okegem 1669 - 1735) also was dependent on assistance in those troubled times.

Judocus had a son, Joannes (Okegem 1699 -1777) who became a member of the parish council ("kerkfabriek") and who was the father of Joanna (Okegem 1733 - 1791). Joanna was the mother of Cornelius Van der Speeten (Okegem 1772 - 1806).

I have covered this territory before.

Alexandrina Van der Speeten (Okegem 1795 - 1831) was a daughter of Cornelius, and her daughter Catharina Asselman (Okegem 1823 - 1892) was the mother of my great-grandfather Hermilianus Neukermans, the fourth of her five children.

Catharina died when her grandson, my grandfather Joannes Franciscus Neukermans (Okegem 1886 - 1961) was about 6 years old.
