An all American hero

Three years after Katrina killed hundreds of thousands of people. Now its possible successor Gustav is blowing at the gates of New Orleans. But this time, mayor Ray Nagin appears to have decided to act faster and more decisevely against what may become "the mother of all storms".

He has ordered the evacuation of the city.

He added that people who do not take the warning seriously and stay will be on their own. An unmasked threat : they can drown, die of infection or thirst if they so chose. But looters will be dealt with most severely.

Once again property appears to be put before people. But maybe, just maybe, given the "right" circumstances, it is easier to shoot someone than to help him ?

And, funny enough, in as far as I know, that mayoral speech has not provoked any protest in the media. Has the world gone mad indeed ?
